Geographical Profiling

Currently Under Development

What is the Geographical Profiling Tool?

The Geographical Profiling tool allows registered user's to create a user defined request for statistical information for their area of interest. A wide variety of Census data is available - RoI Census data (2002, 2006) and Comparable Cross Border data (1991 and 2001/02).

As AIRO developes it is hoped that user will be able to select key public facility data to be included within a request. Data for facilities such as Schools, Hospitals, GP's, Transport facilities etc are currently being generated and will be incorporated in due course.

How does it work?

1. Use the mapping interface to zoom to your chosen location, this can be in either the RoI or NI. Data is available for both areas.

2. Click on the map to set the controid of your profile. This will automatically load the coordinates into the selection window. We are currently developing a font-end that will allow users to also draw their own study area.
3. Select the size of your profile radius and enter the name of your profile e.g 'Maynooth 15km Profile'
4. Select the data variables you require in the profile. Choose from with RoI or Cross-Border data depending on the location of your analysis

Profile Output? The results of the Geographical Profile will be emailed to users once completed. The statistical profile will consist of a detailed .xls file containing raw figures and percentages for your selected study Area. The statistical output will also provide some contextual data - RoI, NI, County, District etc

What is available now?

Although this on-line service is currently not available users may still contact AIRO to request a geographical profile of their area of interest. You will need to provide details on the location of your study area and a list of data you would like included within the profile. You can contact AIRO administration here.
